When I read the news: Cardinal Timothy Dolan’s last major mass as Archbishop of New York was the Christmas Eve Midnight Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on December 24, 2025, my memories went back about the last mass I have attended of St. Mother Teresa in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Bronx, in 1987…

The Story: On Sunday, June 8, 1997, there was a final mass of Mother Teresa arranged in Bronx St. Anthony of Padua Church, was announced months earlier with limited access of visitors with advance appointment as first come first serve. Well, I was lucky-fortunate enough to get an admission-pass thru my good friend who was a Catholic. I took a half-day off from my work for the same. Surprisingly, I was the only Indian person in that small church but, was truly blessed when I saw Mother Teresa in person with Archbishop Cardinal O’Connor of NYCity. Although Mother Teresa was not so well to travel, sad to see her in wheel chair. It was a great feeling but, when I saw in that condition, I thought this could be her last mass and guess what, when she went back to Calcutta she passed away in three months later in September 5, 1997 (age 87 years), Calcutta, India..! Happy Holidays & New Year..!!
