We need your help

Help us bring culturally competent Coliving to South Asian older adults in Queens, New York! Coliving is a community living shared housing model. Those in a coliving household live with friends and community members, or have shared housing for multi-generational families with similar values. India Home is working on establishing the first ever Coliving home for South Asian seniors in NYC. This is an important step in combatting the exacerbated social isolation that our older adults have faced during the pandemic.

With your generous donations, we have purchased a housing property for this innovative and culturally competent Coliving home in Floral Park, Queens. It is a five to six bedroom house, with spacious rooms and will be fully equipped with numerous amenities, where we anticipate 4-6 older adults being able to live. Our project will bring community, support, and care to this community. YOUR contribution will cover renovations & home furnishings needed to help make this a warm and welcoming new home for South Asian immigrant seniors. Please donate to this project today and help our seniors move into a home that they can truly call home!

Our Mission

India Home is a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing the needs of and empowering the South Asian and Indo-Caribbean senior immigrant community in New York City through culturally competent services. At India Home’s centers, our seniors find community and resources through a diverse range of programs and activities. Our programs include congregate meals, creative aging programs, case management programs (e.g. assistance with citizenship, benefits access, service referrals, etc.), and educational talks on health, nutrition, financial safeguards and elder law.

What we do

At India Home’s centers, our seniors find community through a diverse range of
programs and activities, from educational talks on health and nutrition,
financial safeguards and elder law, to trips to museums and parks and
advocating for themselves at City Hall. Our seniors sing, do garba, take yoga
and art classes. They celebrate July 4th, Diwali, Eid and a host of other
festivals. They love dancing- whether it is to Bollywood music or traditional
folk songs. Our programs, which are run out of existing senior center
facilities and faith-based places, encourage active participation and social
interaction.
