Research

There is a paucity of research on the aging of Indian Americans, despite the increasing number of elderly Indian Americans and a heightened interest in geriatrics. Advanced clinical research is vital to establish the challenges unique to this group and identify potential solutions. The impact of such work will extend beyond the Indian-American senior community by augmenting the understanding of immigrant health and aging.

To fill the void in this knowledge gap, India Home has a rapidly expanding and dedicated team of researchers.

Ajar Kochar & Bharati Kalasapudi
Co-Directors of Research

As India Home's Directors of Research, Ajar and Bharati formulate questions, design methodology and guide the team in implementing projects. They also lead data analysis and efforts to disseminate the knowledge learned. They are both medical students at Brown Medical School. Ajar has extensive experience in rigorous basic science research, specializing in spinal cord injury. Bharati's background includes basic science research in immunology and qualitative research on health care utilization.

Avani Sinha
